MANSFIELD: Mabel Geneveive Young, 98, of Mansfield Memorial Homes Retirement Apartments, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in her residence, following a short illness.

She was born in Mansfield on October 29, 1904 to Charles and Cora Crowner Young and had lived on both North Benton and West Second Streets.

Miss Young retired from Pace Manufacturing Company in 1969 and was previously employed by Dominion Electric. One of her first jobs was in 1920, when she was a high school student. She worked part-time at the original National Biscuit Company plant on North Walnut Street putting icing on cookies. She was a Cleveland Indians fan for over sixty years and enjoyed playing bingo at the Elks and Eagles clubs.

Miss Young is survived by seven nieces and five nephews, Betty Hamman Mortz of Excondido, California, Carol Hamman Sweet of Lexington, Sandra Hamman Rucker of Mansfield, Charles Hamman of Shelby, Carl Hamman of Delaware, Eileen Lawrence Dial of Bellville, Karen Egner Neely and Robert Egner both of Glendale, California, Peggy Egner Horney, Sharon Egner Sheperd, Ronald Egner, all of Nevada, and Jack Egner of Michigan.

Mabel was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Lestia Hamman, Hazel Lawrence, Laura Egner and Ray Young.

A service of Christian Burial will be conducted by Reverend Arthur Hamman, retired pastor of the Wesleyan Church, at the graveside in Mansfield Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at 10 am. There will be no calling hours.
