          Luther E. Peck, 83, of Centerburg passed away Monday morning, May 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and niece, Stephanie.  He was born May 9, 1934 in Russell County, Virginia to the late Martin and Myrtle (Taylor) Peck.

          Luther was a retired semi-truck driver for 3 C Highway, Inc. in Columbus with 32 years of service.  He enjoyed playing bluegrass and country music on his banjo and guitar and played in many bands as weekend entertainment.   Luther was a handyman who could fix anything.  He loved to tell stories of his younger years growing up on a farm, but his greatest passion was spending time with his grandsons and family.

          Luther is survived by his wife, Dolly (Jackson) Peck whom he married on May 21, 1955; daughter, Linda Nichols and her fiancé, Phil Lawless; grandsons, Chase and Skyler Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by his son, Johnnie Peck; sister, Elmma Peck; and brothers, Curtis, Omer, Marvin, Bascom, Carlos, Pled, and Hassell Peck.

          The family would like to thank Hospice of Knox County for their understanding help and support.

          The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 with Pastor Kevin Moreland officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
