Luella Pauline Cass, 95, of Mt. Gilead, formerly of Galion, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at Woodside Village in Mt. Gilead, where she had lived the last 20 years.
Born Sept. 9, 1914 in West Point, Morrow County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Webb Stall and Delilah Ruhl Stall. She was preceded in death in 1983 by her husband, Chester W. “Chet” Cass whom she married in 1936.
She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Morrow County, was a homemaker most of her life and worked at the former Morrow County Home. Luella was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and was known as the family favorite cook and loved to bake bread for her family, a job she did for many years. Luella and “Chet” enjoyed attending the Willing Workers Sunday School class parties at Pleasant Grove. She was an avid high school basketball fan and attended every game possible at Iberia High School where her three sons played. She liked to play euchre and participated at family gatherings, neighborhood parties and at euchre club events.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Sandra Cass, of Fredericktown, Ronald and Sharon Cass, of Iberia, and Lee and Kathleen Cass, of Santa Fe, N.M.; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Frank; an infant daughter, Saundra Jean Cass; one great-grandson; five brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2009 and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 with Ministers Jeff Brunsman and Ray Linn officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery, next to her husband.
