Lowell Wetzel Hager, age 82, of Danville went to be with our Lord on Friday evening, October 2, 2009. He was born on May 28, 1927 in McArthur, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and three children, Sherry, Jeffrey, and Rex Hager; a very special companion, Dorothy King who was by his side for 11 years.

Lowell leaves behind five sons, Webb (Sandy) Pope of Frenchburg, KY, John (Jenny) Hager of Mount Vernon, Robert (Sharon) Hager of Owingsville, KY, and Eugene (Donna) Hager of Shreve, and Jack (Becky) Hager of Mount Vernon. He has 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was a Marine Veteran of WWII, a construction worker, and in later years a taxi driver. He was a member of AmVets Post 95 in Mount Vernon.

He had a very caring and special caregiver Jeana Looney and nurse, Kenny Thomas R.N. that went above and beyond for him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 11 a.m. until of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. Pastor Doug DeMoss will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
