BELLVILLE: Louis Edward “Chick” Werner, age 76, of Werner Road, died Wednesday afternoon July 25, 2001 from injuries of a heavy equipment accident near his home.

He was born October 21, 1924 in Dearborn, MI, to Robert E. & Kathryn (McAllister) Werner, was graduated from Johnsville High School, and had been a lifelong resident of Perry Township, Richland County.

A W.W.II Navy veteran, Chick served in the Pacific Theater.

Chick had operated his family’s farm for 60 years, and had operated Werner Excavating since 1960.

He was a member of the Fredericktown Church of Christ; Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, Bellville, and chaplain of Robert L. Castor Post #5101 V.F.W., Lexington.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Robert W. & Cindy Werner of Abita Springs, LA, Keith E. & Karen Werner of Fredericktown; three daughters and a son-in-law Pamela J. & Robert Woodland of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lucinda Bookmyer and her fiancée Allen Fraley of Bellville, and Kimberly S. Simmering and her special friend James Crone, Jr. of Crestline; a daughter-in-law Susan Werner of Fredericktown; 21 grandchildren; a great grandson; and two sisters Twilah Werner Reeves in Kentucky, and Alma W. Werner of Chesterville.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Sue (Goff) Werner on May 19, 2000; and a son Richard A. Werner on December 18, 1999.

Friends may call today Friday July 27, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am. Mr. Douglas E. Roush will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery, where Post #535 American Legion will hold military graveside honors.
