Lois A. Weeks

November 21, 1939 ‒ July 12, 2014

Bellville, Ohio

BELLVILLE:  Lois A. Weeks, age 74, of Bellville passed away Saturday morning, July 12, 2014 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was born November 21, 1939 in Mansfield to the late William and Louise (Sickels) Shambaugh.

It was while working at Colony Bowling Alley that a young Charles Weeks caught her eye.  After courting, the couple was wed July 12, 1963.  They would have celebrated their 51st anniversary this week.

Lois dedicated many years working as bookkeeper for  the Salvation Army.

Sometimes her family referred to her as “the original Martha Stewart” because of her kitchen and craft skills.  She was a talented cake decorator and excellent baker.  She was also a great seamstress fashioning Halloween costumes for the grandkids.  Lois enjoyed crocheting and was also skilled at making ceramic crafts.  Keeping up with technology, Lois played bingo on her computer, and actively updated her facebook account.  Always supportive, Lois had a great sense of humor.

In addition to her husband, Charles, she is survived by a daughter Loreen (Tim) Hoover of Newark; a daughter-in-law Kathy Weeks of Mansfield; five grandchildren Rachel (Jeff) Welty, Matt Weeks, Rob Weeks, Crystal (Billy) Byerly, and Elaine Dailey; six great grandchildren Sam, Madeline, Cooper, Zayden, Nevaeh, and Dominic; a brother Paul (Diane) Shambaugh of Mansfield, a sister Jean (Renny) Crenshaw of CA, and several nieces, nephews and loved in-laws.

She was preceded in death by a son Richard Weeks, a brother Don Crabtree, and a sister Nina Mathews.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 3-6 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 am.  Major Jacqueline Todhunter (R) will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery near Johnsville.

Memorial contributions to the Dewald Community Center of the Salvation Army may be made through the funeral home.
