Lester G. Schoen

Lester G. Schoen, 86, of Galion, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.
Born Sept. 17, 1926 in Bairdstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lester V. and Ethel Bowman Schoen Neidermeirer.
Lester served with the United States Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 4329; Polk Township AMVETS Post 1979 and Army-Navy Garrison 987. He was a member of American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and the Moose Lodge 303.
He worked as a supervisor for 27 years at Crawford Metal Craftsman Burial Vault and Shell Furnace Manufacturing in Crestline. Later he worked 17 years at Galion Dresser, retiring in 1991.
Surviving are his long-time special friend, Esther Laycox of Galion; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schoen of Galion; a nephew, Jerry Christman of Ft Myers, Fla. and two step-sisters, Sandy Neidermeirer of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mabel Grochowalski of Galion.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by, one sister, Myrtlebelle Christman and one brother, Paul Schoen.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery where full military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Army and Galion/Crestline area veteran’s organizations.
