LESTER F. SIMPKINS, age 54 of Delaware died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Mt. Carmel West in Columbus following a brief illness.

He was born in Henderson, West Virginia on November 25, 1947 to Wilber and Ruth (Mayes) Simpkins who survive in Delaware. Lester was a Delaware area resident for 46 years. Retired steel worker from Marion Power Shovel – Marion Dresser Corp.

Member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church of Delaware. He enjoyed his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His other interests and hobbies include cooking, fishing, boating, and listening to blue grass music.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his fiancee: Etta Hummel of Delaware, Children: Todd Simpkins of Delaware, Scott Simpkins of Prospect, Kevin & Elizabeth Simpkins of Delaware, Johnathan Weaver of Edision, James Weaver of Columbus, Benjamin Weaver of Delaware, 12 Grandchildren, one expected grandchild, Brother: Robert & Kathy Simpkins of Delaware, 2 Sisters: Brenda (Don) VanCleve of VanWert, and Mary Simpkins of Delaware, Nieces, Nephews, and a Host of Friends.

Proceeded in death by Grandparents, Uncle: Melvin Simpkins, and a Great-nephew: Austin Darst.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., (SR 36), Delaware, where funeral services will be held Thursday 1:00 p.m., Pastor Wayne Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta.
