Leland LaRue “Lee” Zollars, age 77, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed from this life on Friday, October 5, 2018, at home after a long period of illness. He was born on May 22, 1941, in a log cabin in Holmes County, Ohio, the only son of Ray and Vera (Butler) Zollars. Leland grew up in Brinkhaven, Ohio, and graduated in 1959 from Danville High School. He and his high school sweetheart, A. Susan “Sue” Grassbaugh, were united in marriage on September 26, 1959, thus, just celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary.

Leland was an avid hunter, including trapshooting, and archery. He was a journeyman machinist by trade and in 1967, moved his young family to Los Alamos, NM, where he was employed by the government through the University of California. They returned to Ohio in 1969 residing in Fredericktown.

His most recent employment was as a salesman with Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants where he enjoyed serving his customers in Knox and surrounding counties from 1983-1998.

He faithfully served the Lord as a member of the Fredericktown Church of Christ.

He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, three sons, Brian (Rae Jean) Zollars of Mount Vernon, Aaron (Brenda) Zollars of Bellbrook, Ohio, Wayne (Kim) Zollars of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren, Riley (Dustin) Overholser, Kelsey (Jason) Budd, Brianna (Jeff) Blubaugh, Merrit (Marissa) Zollars, Stephanie (Travis) Brown, Amy (Taylor) Walker, Jay (Faith) Zollars, Justin and Ryan Zollars; eleven plus one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet (Tom) Stetz and Mary (Rick) Drake; one aunt and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathy (Zollars) Ball.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.  The Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown is honored to serve the family of Leland L. Zollars.

Memorial contributions in Leland’s name may be made to Knox County Foundation Hospice Fund, PO Box 309, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
