Lee O. Ramey

Lee O. Ramey, age 91, of Fredericktown, died Monday April 1, 2002 at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon following an extended illness. Lee was born April 17, 1910 in Lawrence County Kentucky to Alonzo and Rebecca (Bishop) Ramey. He graduated from Beaver High School in Pike County in 1931, attended Rio Grand College for two years, received his bachelors and masters degrees from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War Two. Lee moved to Knox county in 1959 from Shelby, Ohio. He taught for 24 years retiring from Clear Fork High School in 1975. Lee also worked for the Veterans Administration for four years.
He was a member of American Legion Post #500 in Fredericktown, and the Ohio Education Association.
Surviving three sons Jesse L. (Carol) Ramey of Hillard, Larry M. (Jodi) Ramey and Wayne L. (Albina) Ramey both of Fredericktown; 6 grandchildren Sarah Gaddis, Rebeccah Ramey, Emily Ramey, Jessica Ramey, Marina Yakovleva and Krystal Ramey. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie (Taylor) Ramey and four brothers Dr. Leonard Ramey, Logan Ramey, Lawton Ramey and Lesta Ramey.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be in Forest Cemetery.
