Lawrence C. “Larry” DeGrange. Jr., age 87, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday morning, July 16, 2012 at Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon. He was born on June 3, 1925 in Hagerstown, Maryland, son of the late Lawrence C. and Elizabeth (Kogelshotz) DeGrange, Sr.
Larry served his country in the Army during WWII and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. In his younger years, Larry played in the Tony Calamello Orchestra.
Larry is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Oakes McCrory of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor “Patsy” (Oakes) DeGrange; sisters, Barbara Price and Audrey Ferguson; and brothers, Richard and Irvin DeGrange.
A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon with Dr. Paul Dove officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
