L. Ray Gideon

L. Ray Gideon, age 83 of Gahanna and Delaware died Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1920 in Ludlow, KY to the late Woods and Clara Gideon. A US Army-Airforce Veteran of WW II, he lived his younger years in the Xenia area before returning to Kentucky, he then moved to Eustis, Florida and came to Ohio in 2003.

Ray retired from the US Government after 26 years as a federal researcher for the Defense Supply Agency. He was a life member of the Xenia V.F.W. Post #8312, American Legion Post #763, and the Disabled Veterans Assoc. Clark County Chapter No. 13.

Preceded in death by brothers; Woodrow Sr., Clifford, and Lawrence Gideon.

Survived by nieces and nephews; Toby Shattuck of Delaware, Woodrow Jr., Robert A., and Gregory S. Gideon all of Gahanna, several great-nieces and nephews including special great-nephew; Jack Sprague of Delaware.

Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware, where services will be held Friday 10:00 a.m., with Fr. David Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the veterans section of Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Assoc.
