Kimberly Rucker

March 01, 1980 ‒ June 25, 2020

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Kimberly Michelle Rucker, age 40, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, June 25, 2020, at OhioHealth Hospital in Mansfield. In 2018, Kimmy suffered a terrible accident and after she courageously fought two years of health battles, she has finally found peace in heaven. Some may have noticed that after she passed away a loud thunderstorm broke out over the Mansfield area… anyone who knew Kimmy could just imagine her up in heaven—already rearranging the furniture!

She was born March 1, 1980, to parents William & Grace (Knasinski) Champion in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield Senior High. Kimmy worked ten years with Big Lots starting as a cashier and worked her way up to the furniture manager. She previously worked for Little Blessings daycare and it was a great fit for Kimmy’s love of kids. She enjoyed nurturing children and it didn’t matter if they were her own or other people’s—she treated them like family—and the kids loved “Miss Kim.”

Kim was always on-the-go and had a knack for organizing. She was a social butterfly and made friends easily in grade school, high school, at work, and all throughout her life and consistently kept in touch. She was an excellent cook and was famous for her Pot Roast, Mac N Cheese, Green Bean Casserole, and especially her Lasagna. She enjoyed hosting “party nights” for friends and family where there was always good food and usually a rousing game of Rock Band with Kimmy as the lead vocalist. Friends and family will dearly miss her loving spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband whom she married May 30, 2003, Rontrell Rucker of Mansfield and her mother Grace Champion. There were so many children who called Kimmy “Mom” and they include: Alexiz Rucker, Viviana Rucker, Rontrell Rucker II, Aliece Rucker, Sele Mills, Williscea Mills, Amber Braudus, and Treyana Rucker; grandchildren Rael, Larry, N’kenji, Mya, and Ky’linne; siblings Jackie (BJ) Champion, Jason Knasinski, Kelly Champion (Kenny Bister) and Josh (Janelle) Champion; her father-in-law Ronald (Marcia) Rucker; her mother-in-law Arlesta Jefferson; sisters-in-law Senyana Jefferson, Sherell Rucker, and Roniesha Rucker; and brother-in-law Travon Rucker. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Kim was preceded in death by her father Bill Champion and nephew Ian Champion.

Her family will receive friends 3 to 6 PM Friday, July 3, 2020, in the Finefrock Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes (350 Marion Ave in Mansfield) where a memorial service honoring her life will begin at 6 PM officiated by Celebrant Dave Roberts. Contributions in her memory will be used to create an education fund for her children. Please make checks payable to Kim Rucker Benefit Fund and bring to her services or send c/o Snyder Funeral Homes, PO Box 3085, Mansfield OH 44904.

I know you are at peace now and can look after your family..I’m sure you will make it known to them when they get out of line even from the heavens above. My sympathy to Ron tell, all her kids, family and friends. RIP

  • Rest now Kim. My daughter just told me, “It’s ok mom. God calls some people home because they are too good for this rotten no good world and He just wants them to not have to endure it anymore.” Thank you for being kind to me in 9th grade at the toughest point of my teenage years.

  • My sincere condolences to Kim’s family, and friends.

Years ago, Frank and I, met this beautiful, friendly, kind, and funny young lady, while shopping at the store where she worked.

Kim had such an engaging personality. She smiled, laughed, and talked to everyone. She had a way of making you feel like she cared, and you mattered. Throughout the years, we became friends.

My heart hurts, knowing that Kim is no longer here. But, rejoices, in the fact, that she had occupied a space in my heart, and this world.

I know that my Frank L. Scott was there to greet her, at the gates.

R.I.H. lovely lady. You will be missed. 💜

  • I knew Kim through her family her whole life. I watched her grow up from a cute little girl to an amazing young lady. She possessed poise, and class that is rarely found in someone so young. She was a beautiful lady on the outside, and anyone that knew Kim, knew her beautiful soul. Kim, you will be missed by everyone that had the good fortune to know you. Rest In Peace. Becky Madden
