Kerry L. Palmer

April 14, 1957 ‒ December 22, 2007

Mount Vernon, Ohio

Kerry L. Palmer, age 50, of Albert Lane, Gambier, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 14, 1957 in Mount Vernon to Jerry Palmer and Anna (Facemyer) Clark. For some who knew him it was Kerry, but for most, it was just “KP”. He was a 1975 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Kerry owned and operated J&K Kar Kare in Mount Vernon since 1984. Three years ago Kerry started the Mount Vernon Golf Scramble held in benefit for the Mount Vernon High School golf and basketball teams.

Kerry always looked forward to Friday and Saturday nights where he could often be found supporting the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets and usually arguing some sort of refereeing mistake. There weren’t many times you couldn’t walk into Hiawatha Golf Course clubhouse without encountering Kerry. We always hear the term, “give the shirt off your back”; Kerry lived his life with that theme in mind.

Besides his parents he is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Georgina (Harris) Palmer, a son, Cory Palmer of the home, a daughter, Tabitha (Steven) Palmer-Holley of Columbus, two brothers, Keith (Linda) Palmer of Mount Vernon and Dave (Gayle) Palmer of Gambier, nieces and nephews, Chad (Kari) Palmer, Luke Palmer, Darcy (Brad) Nesbit, Derrick (Emma) Palmer, Makenzie Palmer and Aidan Nesbit.

He was preceded in death by his step father John E. Clark.

Friends may call on Wednesday December 26, 2007 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 or to the Mount Vernon Athletic Boosters and can be left at the funeral home.
