Kenneth W. “Ken” Mackley, age 75 of Sunbury died Wednesday morning December 25, 2013 at his residence.

He was born on July 20, 1938 in Hutton, Maryland to the late Kenneth Bernard and Rosa Myrtle (Waybright) Mackley. He was a resident of the Sunbury area for the past 62 years coming from Morgantown, WV. Ken was a 1956 graduate of Big Walnut High School and a retired electrician for Mid City Electric retiring in 1998 with 40 years of service. He was a 50 year member of the Sunbury United Methodist Church, TLC Group, OWLS, Heart of Ohio EMMAUS and helped with the Dinner Theater Production.

Ken enjoyed keeping busy and doing things for others. He was involved with making homemade ice cream on the square during Memorial Day, the 4th of July Celebration and Labor Day for 26 years making 160 gallons each holiday. Helping with after church dinners, enjoying time spent doing things with his wife and family and taking care of the family homestead were his passion. Ken enjoyed playing Old Maid with his grandchildren and was active in School Age Childcare for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Mary Lou (Hayes) Mackley and they were married August 10, 1958 in Sunbury; son: Tim Mackley of Columbus; daughter: Kenda Michaels of Columbus; grandchildren Timothy Ryan, Laura Elaine, Rachel Elizabeth; sisters: Marjorie (Boris) Williams of Medina, Doris (Don) Crothers of Delaware.

Friends may call Monday from 11-1 p.m. at the Sunbury Methodist Church with services immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Mack officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunbury Memorial Park.

The family suggests contributions to the Sunbury United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
