Kenneth Chan, age 58, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning in the Grady Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. He was born April 10, 1949 in Manhatten, N.Y. to Henry and Rita Ho. He was raised by his adopted mother Janis Chan and came to Delaware in 1965. He was a graduate of Hayes High School class of 1967 and a member of Kilbourne United Methodist Church. He had worked for the American Can Corporation and was a retired Purchasing Clerk for the Metal Container Corporation, a subsidiary of Anheiser Busch. He was a member and past master of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #18 and past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was past Associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #22. He was a member of the Marion Volleyball Association, where he served as their rules interpreter and was an active volleyball official. He was generally a sports enthusiast and liked to stay busy and volunteered for the AARP. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Marty (Jumper), daughters Brandi (Stephen) Bright of Del., Tricia Chan also of Delaware, a son Jaeson (Tiffany) Chan of Dublin, a very special nephew Robert (Angie) Thacker of Columbus, 8 grandchildren- Evan and Brandon Bright, Michaela and Alyssa Bayerl, Alexis and Alex Chan, Trinite and Carson Thacker, several nieces and nephews, 2 sisters Lil and Alice of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his mother Janis Chan and his sister Mamie Hing. Friends will be received on Tuesday at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio from 4 to 8 pm where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Green Mound Cemetery. The Ladies of the Eastern Star will host a gathering at the Moore Masonic Temple, 51 W. William St., Delaware immediately following the committal service. The family urges contributions be made to Job’s Daughters in care of 51 W. William St. or the Diabetes Association, P O Box 81, Delaware, Ohio.
