August 31, 1952 ‒ October 25, 2018

Bellville, Ohio

BELLVILLE: Kathryn Jo “Kathy” Griffith, 66, of Bellville passed away at home October 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following a valiant battle with cancer.

The daughter of David and Annabell Hanners, Kathy was born August 31, 1952 in Bellville and graduated from Clear Fork High School.  Kathy was retired from Newman Technology.  She was a loving mother, daughter, and wife who lived an honest hard-working life. Kathy painted, worked with ceramics and crocheted.   She loved the outdoors.  An avid gardener, she hunted mushrooms each spring and enjoyed fishing. Following her retirement, Kathy focused on farming, especially milking cows.  She unselfishly gave of herself any time she could.  Tender-hearted Kathy’s love carried into her golden retrievers, especially Gracie.

One of Jehovah’s Witness, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on Middle Bellville Road, in Mansfield.

She is survived by her three daughters Melissa (Jayson) VanPelt, of Bellville, Monica King of Lakeville, and Elizabeth (Adam) Lykins of Lakeville; her mother Annabell Hanners of Bellville; brothers Mike (Karen) Hanners of Bellville, Rusty Hanners of Mansfield and Andy Hanners of Mansfield; sisters Susan Hanners of South Carolina and Darla (Lenny) Wright of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.  Kathryn’s family would like to express a special thank you to those offering additional care and support: friends Shirly Davis and Irene Darrow, Paula Earlywine, grandson Tyler Diffenbaugh, and loving mother Annabell Hanners.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father David Hanners, son Mikey Earlywine and brother Jim Hanners.

All are welcome to join the family in a memorial service Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 4 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 1780 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44904.

  • Prayers for peace and comfort. I will always remember the time I spent with Kathy and the girls. She loved being busy. Her animals were her life superseded by her
children. I loved her energy, her love of life. I have missed her smile.

  • I will never forget my beautiful Katbird. I loved her as if she were my own sister. Unfortunately, my job kept me from visiting her. I will miss your beautiful mother very much. Love you girls.

  • Every time I look at the necklace I had made from the stones you gave me with the story behind them i will not only remember my son but also you and of the thoughtfulness and friendship you gave me!! May you be at peace now
