Katherine Marie Butts, affectionately known as Kathy, was born to Miller Lewis Sr. and Catherine Taylor Lewis in Boyle County Kentucky on August 18, 1956.

After Kathy’s mother’s death, Kathy was raised in foster care by the late George and Margaret Harlan. Before coming to Delaware, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, KY. Kathy graduated from Rutherford B. Hayes High School in 1975. After graduation, Kathy worked at Grumman Flexible for 20 years. She then went on to work for Kroger for 23 years. Kathy enjoyed working for Kroger, as she loved meeting new people and adored her coworkers.

Kathy loved her church, Second Baptist, where she was a member for 44 years. Kathy served as Pastor Curtis’s aide. She made sure he had everything ready for morning service. Kathy had a passion for shopping. She was also known as The Bag Lady for the various bags she carried.

Kathy will be remembered as a God fearing, fun loving, kind, giving woman with a heart of gold, who loved being a mother and grandmother. Kathy cherished and loved her family and friends very much. She will truly be missed.

Kathy is preceded in death by parents: Miller Lewis Sr. and Catherine Taylor Lewis; sisters: Sarah Medley, Nancy Yocum, and Amelia Lewis; brothers: Miller Lewis Jr., John Thomas, Richard Greg, Linsey Burt, James Charles, and Howard Price Lewis, all of Danville, KY; and step-son, Curtis Poindexter.

Kathy leaves to cherish her precious memory: son, Justin Butts, step-children Tashmina, Tanita and Donald Butts Jr.; former husband and friend, Donald Butts Sr.; bonus daughter Kasarah Medley; sisters: Edith Meaux of Danville, KY, and Doris Lewis; 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins; very special nephew, Anthony Lewis; nieces: Mary Lewis, and Yolanda Gill.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 22, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, OH. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael A. Curtis officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
