Karl Eric Raus

April 29, 1956 ‒ July 16, 2016

Delaware, Ohio

Karl Eric Raus, 60, of Delaware passed away Saturday evening July 16, 2016 at Grady Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Eric went to be with his loved ones in Heaven after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born April 29, 1956 in Delaware to the late Karl Leo Raus and Betty Louise (Hawkins) Raus.

Eric was united in marriage to Tammy Lynn (Crabtree) Raus on September 21, 1991 in Delaware. They have one son Brett Alan Russell of Dublin and one daughter Erin Michele Russell (Kris) Fluty of Radnor. Eric is also survived by his granddaughter Kailey Lane Fluty whom he dearly loved. He also has one sister Marsha Ann Raus of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-laws Pamela June (Jerry) Spears of Lucasville, Marsha Ann (Delbert) Hurst of Chillicothe and Carolyn Sue (Dan Lewis of Roper, NC; brother-in-law James Lawrence Crabtree of West Portsmouth. Eric was loved and will be greatly missed by his many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, neighbors and friends. He also will be missed by special friends, Wally and Debbie Spriggs of West Portsmouth and Todd and Mollie Howard of Delaware.

Eric retired from Flexible in Delaware and he enjoyed being a trustee at Eastside Mission Church. He also enjoyed his church family, golfing, fishing, bowling, working on cars and repairing guns with his late uncle Donnie VanBrimmer. He was a big fan of Michigan State football. Go Spartans!

Eric was one of those rare people that you have the honor of knowing. He never met a stranger and would help anyone. He grew up in Delaware and was well known in the community. He made friends easily and had many lifelong childhood friends. As a family, we enjoyed listening to his many stories of his adventures as a kid. He once told the story that when he leaves us, he will go knowing that he was loved. The word love is used often to express many things, but in Eric’s case, the word love is not enough. Words can’t express how much he will be missed.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday July 31, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Eastside Mission Church, 32 Joy Avenue, Delaware with Rev. Donnie Akers officiating. A reception will follow.

Contributions in Eric’s memory may be made to any Cancer Society.

The Snyder Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Raus family.

  • Oh, Tammy, Brett, and Erin, my heart is truly broken. He really was one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met, and I am so very blessed to have had him for a friend.

  • Eric was truly a good neighbor and always willing to help us out in any way he could. We will most certainly miss seeing him relaxing on the front deck or working on vehicles and tinkering in his garage. He will be greatly missed by our neighborhood. Tammy, Brett, and Erin, you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
