Karen Diane Barr

MANSFIELD: Karen Diane Barr, age 71 of Mansfield passed away Saturday evening, August 21, 2010 in her home following an extended battle with Multiple Sclerosis. No longer bound by the limits of her debilitating disease, Karen is now free.
She was born August 12, 1939 in Mansfield, the daughter of Ralph and Charlotte Mae (Sommerville) Devers and was graduated from Mansfield High School in 1957.
On February 11, 1961 she married Fred Edward Barr with whom she celebrated 49 years of marriage. As her husband and caregiver, Fred was a constant presence, and always there to tend Karen’s every need.
A homemaker, Karen delighted in caring for her children. Though the effects of MS took their toll over the years, Karen was a true fighter, never giving up and never complaining.
Karen was a member of Diamond Hills Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Fred, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Jim Blankenship of Mansfield, Robin and Peter Wiggin of Mansfield, and a son David Barr of Mansfield. She is also survived by three grandchildren Kelli Baker, Jessi Blankenship and Hanna Barr, and great grandson Brandon Polak, along with numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Ralph Richard Devers.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 5-8 pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11 am. The Rev. Christopher Thomas will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
