Junior L. “Jeff” Baker, 86, of 1200 Bucyrus Road, Galion, died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Village Care Center in Galion and his family is now celebrating his new life.
Born October 18, 1920 in Van Wert, he was the son of the late Roy Baker and Mabel Jewell Baker. He was preceded in death on January 28, 1993 by his wife, Maribel Billig Baker whom he married in 1941.
He was a graduate of Crestline High School, a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of Windfall Emanuel United Church of Christ in Galion and American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, Galion. He retired from the former Perfection-Cobey in Galion after 40 years where he last worked as plant superintendent. He also farmed from 1950 to 1976.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Terra and Tom McCanney of Sunbury and Jan Schnegelsberger of Powell and two grandchildren and spouse, Mark McCanney of Columbus and Andrea and Karl Yost of Westerville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Butterfield and Violet Cooper.
Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday with Rev. Dreama Caudill officiating.
Full military honors will be held by the Galion area veterans organizations.
