Juanita Marie (Lewis) McDonald

August 18, 1939 ‒ May 30, 2020

Mount Vernon, Ohio

Juanita Marie (Lewis) McDonald, 80, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.  She was born in Crestline on August 18, 1939, the daughter of Marie J. Lewis and William H. Lewis.

Juanita spent most of her younger life in Crestline entertaining friends and family, raising her six children, while squeezing in time with friends for games of dice, cards and lots of bingo!  She would eventually move to Danville where she was a bartender at John-Michaels Tavern and raised her youngest two children.

The retirement years of her life would be spent in Zanesville with her late spiritual husband, Vernon McConnell.  They would spend most of there time watching many sports together: baseball, NASCAR, and wrestling.  Followed by lots of dinner dates. These years were spent forming the best of bonds with her many grandchildren.  The last few months of her life was spent in Mount Vernon where she moved to be closer to a lot of her great grand babies and family.  She will forever be known for her unique sense of humor, kind heart, the best of moms and the best of grandmothers.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy; and her brother, Robert Lewis.

Juanita is survived by six children, David Coldwell of Marysville, Daniel Coldwell of Cambridge, Donnie (Lorretta) Hobbs of Camden, MI, Doug (Diana) Hobbs of Fredericktown, Chuck Tarbert of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tammy Tarbert of Zanesville; and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In following with Juanita’s wish, there will not be any services.
