Juanita Gruber, age 74 of Delaware, died Monday afternoon March 29, 2010 at Delaware Court Health Care Center.
She was born on November 17, 1935 in Paintsville, Ky. to the late Elijah and Eva (Caudill) Cordial. Juanita had worked for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office cooking and cleaning and previously for Delaware City Schools as a janitor. She was a member of the St Mark’s Lutheran Church, Delaware.
Juanita enjoyed her family and was the hub of the holidays with everybody coming to her home. Reading, sewing, knitting, vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and crafts were things she enjoyed doing. Juanita was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football and basketball fan following her teams during the season.
Survived by husband of 58 years: Robert G. Gruber and they were married June 23, 1951, son: Michael Gruber of Delaware; daughter: Christine (Leon) Hamelers of New Bloomington; grandchildren; Valerie (Shane) Akers, Dustin Cook, John, James and Jennifer Hamelers; great granddaughter: Kendal Akers; sisters: Rita Dennis, Janet Sullivan, Lassie Gail, Dorothy Rayburn all of Delaware, Charlotte Cordial of Worthington.
Preceded in death by son John on October 16, 1997.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 28 E. William Street. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
