Joyce L. Buskirk, age 73, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 12, 1945 in Paintsville, Kentucky the daughter of Gerard “Buck” and Virginia Everal (Hinkle) Neeley. With her husband, Joyce owned and operated J & W Buskirk Trucking in Fredericktown.

Joyce was a former Den Mother of the local Cub Scouts and former member of the Knox County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed farming and took great pride in her vegetable and flower gardens. Joyce loved her family with all of her heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Wayne Buskirk; her children, Robin (Timothy) Durbin of Fredericktown, Mark (Rebecca) Buskirk of Fredericktown and Selby Buskirk of Mount Vernon; eleven grandchildren, Clinton Durbin, Lydia (Grant) Nyhart, Chelsea Buskirk, Victoria Buskirk, Colton Buskirk, Vance Buskirk, Brittany (Jon) Hoar, Kyrsten Andrews, Ashtyn Andrews, Lana Andrews and Jenna Andrews; a brother, Jack (Kim) Neeley of Suisun, California and a sister, Donna Booth of Inez, Kentucky.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Neeley.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019 where a funeral service will be held on Thursday beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Richard Prater will be officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.

Memorial Contributions in Joyce’s name may be made to the James Cancer Hospital in care of the funeral home.

  • Some of my fondest memories as a child were from visiting family in Ohio and Kentucky during summer break, and swimming and fishing with cousins at the Buskirk house. I will always be grateful to Aunt Joyce for making a Korean girl from California feel like a welcome part of the family.
