Joyce (Knight) Combs, age 80, of Fredericktown, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio.  She was born on October 29, 1938 in Christine, Kentucky to the late Coy and Ruthie (Burton) Knight.

Joyce worked for Mazza’s Restaurant as a chef for many years.  She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, her family and her four legged companions that she loved over the years.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Beth) Combs; grandchildren, Ross (Emily) Carter, Shawn (Desire) Martin; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jones, Christian Carter, Caleb Carter, Willow Martin; sisters, Lillian (Paul) Commer, Carol Kincade; and a son-in-law, Steve Grassbaugh.

Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Combs; daughter, Sheila Grassbaugh; a sister, Yvonne Garrett; a brother, Vernon Knight.

Calling hours  will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 1-3 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home; 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43050 with a celebration of life service starting at 3:00 PM with Pastor Richard Hasley officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

  • We are very sorry to learn of Joyce’s passing, she will be missed by her friends and family. When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange.

  • A true angel has assended, and the world will the sadder for her leaving. But richer for the time she was with us. Joyce was a second mother to me and I loved her dearly. Today she is with Earlier and Sheila again, along with my parents and sister as well. I can think of no more loving and comforting place for her to be than in all those loving arms.

It is a warm feeling to know that she has been called home and will be happy sharing her time while she waits for the rest of us with Earlie, Sheila and her past four legged friends.
