Joshua Michael “Josh” Beekman

January 12, 1987 ‒ September 04, 2021

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Joshua Michael “Josh” Beekman, 34, of Mount Gilead, lost his long battle with addiction on September 4, 2021.

Josh was born on January 12, 1987, at Morrow County Hospital to parents Jack and Jodie (Benson) Beekman. He graduated from Northmor High School in the Class of 2005.

Growing up, Josh loved to be outside, hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and camping like the pioneers used to live. His love for the outdoors continued into adulthood. Spending time hunting in the woods and being on the water fishing made him happy. Most recently, he found a new joy in blacksmithing, making beautiful knives. He spent most of his adult life working as an electrician where he attained apprenticeship status.

Josh is survived by his parents, Jack and Jodie Beekman; siblings: Jeffery (Veronica) Beekman, Jessica (Andrew) Massie, Jeremy Beekman; maternal grandparents, Walter and Karen Benson; paternal grandfather, Raymond Graves; nieces: Leah Beekman and Ayla Massie; nephews: Jeffery Beekman Jr. and Ethan Massie; close family friend “Aunt Becky”, Rebecca Gattshall; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vessie “Newt” Beekman and Geraldine Graves.

We are very saddened by Josh’s death but find peace that he is no longer plagued by his addictions.

No services are planned, as that is not what Josh wanted. A small celebration of life will be held for those closest to the family at a later date.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead are honored to have been chosen to serve Josh’s family, and your special memories or condolences may be shared with them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
