Joseph H. Wolford, age 76, of Howard passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon.

He was born on June 6, 1940 in Mount Vernon to the late Paul and Marcella (Alberts) Wolford. Joseph was a supervisor at Chattanooga Glass for over 19 years and later worked at Holophane until his retirement. He was a member of Amvets Post #95, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027 and was a veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. But most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his wife M. Faye (Carr) Wolford; his daughter Peggy (Alan Richards) Wolford; his son Joe (Brenda) Wolford; his grandson Joseph Richards; his step-grandchildren Brian Grieves, Tony McDonald, Abby Skaggs; two step great grandchildren, Hailey Grieves, Maddie Skaggs; three brothers, George Wolford, John (Nancy) Wolford, Jimmy (Jean) Wolford; two sisters, Millie (Carl) Boyd, Ottis Davis; and his sister-in-law Mildred Wolford.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Paul and Arthur Wolford; his sister Rosalee (Donald) Emmert; his step son Claude Huggins Jr.; and his step grandson Cole Grieves.

A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery beginning at 11AM with Pastor Jerry Owens officiating.
