MANSFIELD ~ Joseph A. Schmitt, Sr., of Mansfield, passed away Sunday morning August 22, 2010 in Lexington Court Care Center. He was 91.

He was born on February 25, 1919 in Cleveland to Joseph A. and Frances (Nagorski) Schmitt, and was graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland.

For 42 years, Joseph worked with TRW, retiring as advertising manager.

A member of Resurrection Parish, Joseph had been a long-time member of Toastmasters International during his professional career years. As a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, yet above all else, he cherished his family.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Lee Franko of Powell, and his daughter and son-in-law Donna Marie & Thomas Szuhy of Brunswick; grandchildren Courtney Lee & Bobby Salas, Michael & Heather Szuhy, and Kathleen & Bob Gdovin; great grandchildren Jacob Szuhy and Nicholas Szuhy.

His wife of 52 years Rose Marie (Marino) Schmitt preceded him in death on May 9, 1994. Also deceased are his son Joseph A. Schmitt, Jr., and a son-in-law Mickey Franko.

The memorial service in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home will be held for immediate family. The Rev. Father Nelson Beaver will preside.
