JOHN WESLEY STANLEY JR., 81, OF ASHLEY DIED MONDAY MORNING AT RIVERSIDE METHODIST HOSPITAL, COLUMBUS. HE WAS BORN MARCH 29, 1924 IN FRANKLIN COUNTY TO JOHN W. STANLEY AND EDITH (nee JONES) STANLEY. HE RETIRED FROM PETE MILLER SHEETMETAL, MARION AFTER 16 YEARS. HE WAS A US NAVY VETERAN SERVING IN WWII AND WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE ASHLEY AMERICAN LEGION #518 AND THE DELAWARE EAGLES #376. SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 30 YEARS, ERDINE ELIZABETH (nee GALE); 3 SONS, GARY L. (AND HIS SIGNIFICANT OTHER, GINGER) STANLEY OF SARASOTA, FLORIDA, MICHAEL L. (VIOLET) STANLEY OF DELAWARE, AND STEVEN A. (TERESITA) STANLEY OF WARRENSBURG; DAUGHTER, TENA (JEFF) VanBRIMMER OF OSTRANDER; 2 STEPSONS, LOWELL STRATTON OF MARION AND DOUGLAS STRATTON OF ASHLEY; 11 GRANDCHILDREN, 12 STEPGRANDCHILDREN, 11 GREATGRANDCHILDREN, AND 10 STEPGREATGRANDCHILDREN; 2 NIECES, ERNESTINE STANISH OF PORT CLINTON AND MARY LOU (BUD) WILGUS OF DELAWARE; NEPHEW, JAY (MARY) STANLEY OF DELAWARE.
