BELLVILLE: John H. Ocheltree, 70, of Bellville, died Friday morning March 31, 2006 in Lexington Court Care Center following a long illness.

He was born June 9, 1935 in Sutton, West Virginia, to Kenneth and Margaret (Hyer) Ocheltree, and moved to the Bellville area in 1950.

For more than 15 years, John worked in the trim shop of the former National Seating Company in Mansfield.

He learned an appreciation for fabrics and quality upholstery that led him to open his own business: Ocheltree Upholstery. He specialized in the re-upholstery and repair of home furniture.

Described as a quiet man, John enjoyed his time spent in his vegetable garden, and on regular trips to the Antique Mall in New Philadelphia.

He was a member of New Life Church of Christ, Bellville.

He is survived by his wife Janet L. (Norris) Ocheltree, whom he married August 28, 1955; a daughter and son-in-law Angela and Brad Horwatt of Mount Vernon; a son and daughter-in-law Alan and Rosa Ocheltree of New Albany; a son Darren Ocheltree of Portsmouth; a granddaughter Natasha Horwatt; a great grandson Skylar; his mother and stepfather Margaret and Ray Linger of Bellville; a brother and sister-in-law Fred and Ida Ocheltree of Bellville; a sister Chelva Troupe of Washington; a sister-in-law Janet Ocheltree of Nevada; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and by a son Robert; and a brother Donald Ocheltree.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 2-5 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 am. Pastor Steve Kistler will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
