John F. Moyer, 70, of Hillsboro, Illinois, died Saturday, December 02, 2000 in the Hillsboro Area Hospital.

He was born in Seneca County, Ohio on February 20, 1930, the son of the late Russell M. and Margaret A. Hansen Moyer. He graduated from Republic High School. He was a farmer also working as an inspector for Diamond Meat Packaging and as a truck driver for Moler Trucking until retiring. He was a member of the Wares Grove Lutheran Church and the Montgomery Co. Farm Bureau. He moved here in 1971 from Crawford County.

He is survived by his wife Alice M. Sipes Moyer, whom he married Feb. 18, 1973; six sons William & Dawn Moyer of New Washington, OH, Dale & Ruthann Moyer of San Diego, CA, Eugene & Julie Moyer of Galion, OH, Carl & Peggy Moyer of Shelby, OH, David Moyer of Crestline, OH, and John & Rebecca Moyer of Hillsboro, IL; five daughters Irene & Allen Kopp, Connie & Robert Streff all of Mansfield, OH, Laura & Joe Crum of Iberia, OH, Barbara Moyer of Shelby, OH, and Deborah & Michael Conlee of Hillsboro, IL; 25 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; four brothers Russell “Ed” Moyer of Willard, OH, Melvin Moyer of Fremont, OH, Donald Moyer of Norwalk, OH, and Harold Moyer of Republic, OH; and two sisters Clara Joseph of Bellevue, OH, and Carol McAninch of Charlotte, NC.

As son Christopher, a daughter Susan, and a brother Dale Moyer all preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Snyder Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead on Thursday after 10 a.m. Pastor Ed Wahl will conduct funeral services there at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Shauck Cemetery.
