Joanne Elizabeth “Jo” Behm, age 42 of Marion, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Joanne was born October 30, 1978 in Marion, the daughter of Gary C. and Marianne (Meyer) Behm. Joanne attended Ridgedale High School and was active in sports and music. To this day, she holds the school record for shot put in track and field and in 1997 came in 5th at State Finals. Joanne was an accomplished musician. She played trumpet, French horn, clarinet, piano and was a soloist as well. She graduated in the class of 1997. She then enrolled in The Ohio State University where she graduated with a bachelor degree of science in nursing. She remained a faithful Buckeye and loved OSU Football along with the Cincinnati Reds.

Joanne, most recently, was serving as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Labor and Delivery at Marysville. She was beloved by her work family who has supported her as she has battled cancer. Former patients and other co-workers have showered her with love which always lifted her spirits.

Joanne pursued many passions in life, often teaching herself new skills. Doing hair and nails was one that she perfected and when it was Prom season, she was always honored to do the hair and nails for her friends’ children. Baking and cooking were other passions she loved and those around her benefited from her amazing creations. A day at the pool was Joanne’s way of relaxing and camping became another activity she enjoyed. Joanne loved life and loved those in her life and her memory will live on in her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Marianne and Tim Bailey; aunts and uncles: William H. “Bill” (Patti) Meyer, IV, Anita (Dick) Eicher, Patty (Larry) Fisher, Cyndi Gearhart, Bruce Krogman, and Becky Langston, ; cousins Matthew Fisher, Lance Fisher, Krissy Eicher, Maureen Koeninger, Tara Robson, Andrew Barlow, Brice Krogman, Tiffany Krogman, Chelsea Green, Alex Krogman, Ivan Ristic and Nikki Ristic.

Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Gary C. Behm, uncle Charles Joe Behm and cousin Jesse Barlow.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 West Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main St., Marion at 10:30AM; burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

  • Words cannot express what Jo meant to me. She was one of a kind, a close friend, a soul sister. My fellow Buck Nut and lover of all things music. She encouraged me to follow my dreams and loved spending time with my boys. She coined my nickname at work and helped me deliver my first baby as an OB nurse. Her knowledge and caring ways were unparalleled on our unit.

    I have had the privilege to be in her sphere and will forever love and miss her.

  • I remember Jo from grade school at St. Mary’s, she was always kind and smiling. Prayers for peace to her family.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Jojo through my niece whom she took under her wing as her “little sister” in the OB department at Memorial. She saved my great nephew, baby Jensen’s life and for that we are forever grateful. She impacted every life she came across for the better. I am so honored to have known Jojo and will truly miss her. Prayers of comfort to her friends and loved ones during this difficult time.

I not only was a coworker but was blessed to have her be a part of my “grand twins” labor and delivery. She was so calm and supportive. Such a fighter and such a blessing to all that knew her.
