Jerry W. Casteel, age 67 of Delaware formerly of Marengo passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 19, 2016.

He was born in Columbus on July 17, 1949 to the late Robert “Popeye” and Betty E. (Toops) Casteel. Jerry worked as a self-employed mason known as JC Masonry.

Fun loving, he was a dedicated husband and father who never had much, but what he did was yours for the asking.  Time spent at home was treasured, as were camping trips to Alum Creek, Lake Erie, and those to Tennessee taken as a family will long be remembered. Always hard working the past few years of illness were difficult to accept.

For Jerry home life was the best, as were bonfires at his parents shared with his extended family. He treasured his children and grandchildren. Jerry dearly loved his wife of 29 years; Cassandra “Sandy” (Martin) who also preceded him in death in 2007.

Survived by sons: Todd (Leslie) Martin of Centerburg, Matt Casteel of Marion, daughter: Shelby Casteel of Ashley, Grandchildren: Tanner, Mason, Hunter, Samantha, Bailey, Barret, great grandson: Trayson, sister: Sharon (Jim) Wharton, brothers: Bobby A. (Linda) Jr., and Jim W. (Debbie) Casteel all of Marengo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call  4-7 p.m. on Friday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N SR 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 where services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Beacom officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses, P. O. Box 238, Sunbury, Ohio 43074.
