Jason L. (Jay) Squires, age 44, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was born on July 20, 1973 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the son of Donna J. (Williams) and Jon C. Squires.

Jason was a friend to many and enjoyed spending time with the people he knew best while competing in bowling leagues, pool tournaments and golf outings. To know “Jay” was to love “Jay” and those in that inner circle always knew Jason was a friend for life. He also loved being around his family, whether it was at home playing cards, going camping or just hanging out with his children.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter Mikala M. Squires; son, Conner J. Squires; his mother, Donna J. (Denny Wolford) Squires; his sister, Jodi A. (Clint) Burbridge; mother of his children, Julie S. Squires; many aunts, uncles, cousins and close personal friends.

Besides his father he was preceded in death his grandmother Mable E. Squires, aunt and uncle Bob and Judy Gump.

Jason will be reunited with his longtime four legged friend “Tank”.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 12 p.m. in Bellville Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 8 p.m. Pastor Dan Taylor will be officiating.

Memorial contributions in Jay’s name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
