BRENTWOOD, TN: Janice Lucille Guild, age 90, peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, from Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN.

She was born August 31, 1928, to parents Frank & Lula (Gilette) Eskins in North Olmsted, OH. Janice was graduated from North Olmsted High School. On September 13, 1952, she married William Albert Guild and they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage and together raised three kids.

Janice was a dedicated wife and mother who created a loving home for her family. She also worked in the kitchen at Woodlawn Nursing Home for 18 years until retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mansfield and also attended Lexington Presbyterian Church.

In spare time, she enjoyed quilting and puzzles But above all, Janice cherished her family and will be best remembered for her love of them. Friends and family will dearly miss Janice.

She is survived by three children (& spouses) Pastor David & Teresa Guild of Mansfield, Jeffrey & Marisa Guild of Lancaster, and Cynthia & Dwayne Fields of Brentwood, TN; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her loving husband, William, who passed away March 31, 1988, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Her family will receive friends 9:30-10:30am Saturday, December 15, 2018, in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (350 Marion Ave in Mansfield) where a memorial service honoring Janice’s life will begin at 10:30am. Pastor George Reece will speak and burial of her urn will follow at 1pm in Evergreen Cemetery in Westlake, OH. Contributions in her memory to Alive Hospice may be made at her services or sent in care of the funeral home (PO Box 3085, Mansfield OH 44904).

  • I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. I can only how you must feel. I have personally found comfort in scriptures like Job 14:14,15 which remind me that God cares so deeply for us that he yearns for the day when he will bring us back to life (John 5:28, 29). I hope that these words bring you comfort as well.
