James W. Morgan Jr. , age 85 of Delaware died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, September 2, 2009 surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 18, 1923 in Columbus to the late James W. and Annabel (Hughes) Morgan Sr. A US Army Veteran of WW II, Jim retired in 1985 from the City of Columbus, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.
Jim was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed his annual trip to Angolo, NY, the beaches of Lake Erie, golfing, the claw machine, building model cars, and attending softball games. He treasured time spent with family and his friends at Willow Brook Senior Choices.
He will be missed by his daughter Kathy (Mike) Askew of Delaware, son Bob (Laura) Morgan of Johnstown, Grandchildren: Kelly (Chad) Caldwell, Kevin (Lisa) Gornall, Amy, Lisa, and Chris Morgan, Great-grandchildren: Jayde Caldwall, Alex, Emily, and Megan Gornall, step grandchildren: Shelli (Dick) Johnson, Staci (Ken) Sylva; step great-grandchildren: Austin and Conner Johnson, Sarah and Christina Sylva; brother George Morgan of Columbus, brother-in-law Oscar (MaryAnn) Schirtzinger, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years: Esther (Schirtzinger) in 2004, brother Jack, sisters: Alice Johnson, Betty Dollar, and Margaret “Pug” Snowball.
Friends may call Saturday 10-11 a.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware. Graveside services will be held Saturday 11:30 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St. (US 23), Lewis Center, 43035.
