James W. “Jim” Trachsel

James W. “Jim” Trachsel, age 68, of Delaware and formerly of Columbus, died Friday morning, March 18, 2005 at the Cherith Care Center at Willow Brook Christian Village after a difficult battle with cancer.
He was born in Canton, Ohio on September 7, 1936 to the late Ralph (Sally) Traschel and Faye Stanbarger. Graduate of Hilliard High School Class of 1954 and General Motors Institute, now Kettering University, Class of 1959. Jim worked as an engineer in the Tech Center for General Motors in Michigan. He moved to Delaware in 1996 from Columbus and had also resided in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist. He was also an active participant within the Willow Brook Christian Village. Jim’s favorite pastime was automobiles; he also loved sending cards and notes to family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Walther Palenshus Trachsel of Delaware, whom he married on August 31, 2002, Daughter: Nancy Ross of Michigan, 3 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandson, Step-Son: Dr. Ronald J. (Roxanne) Palenshus of Bucyrus, 4 Step-Grandchildren, 3 Step-Great-Grandchildren, Brother: Randall Trachsel of Muncie, Pennsylvania, and a Sister: Vicki Trachsel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Zo Ann Trachsel, and sister, Bonnie Haas.
Friends may call Monday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where a celebration of life service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Deb Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
