James J. “Jim” Seitz

LEXINGTON: James J. “Jim” Seitz of Lexington passed away Wednesday morning February 27, 2013 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was 89.
Born December 15, 1923 in Wapakoneta, he was the oldest child of Robert and Alice (McEvoy) Seitz, and was graduated from Blume High School in Wapakoneta.
Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Wittenberg University in Springfield, and served with the 563rd Signal Air Warning Battalion of the U.S Army during WWII, during the battle of Normandy and the campaigns of Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He had worked with Famous Supply Company in Mansfield as a manager and salesman for the plumbing and heating company. He retired from L&B Manufacturing in Mount Vernon, a Famous Supply subsidiary.
A big college and professional football fan, Jim was a 65-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine “Jeri” (Brown) Seitz; their daughter Mary Jane Wier (Brad Jeffrey) of Worthington; brothers Robert Seitz of Wapakoneta and William (Kathie) Seitz of Honor, MI; and several nieces and nephews that were like children to him.
The Seitz family will receive friends Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church may be made at the funeral home.
