MANSFIELD: Jack Ernest Carr passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Morrow Manor, Chesterville. He was 74.
Jack was born May 21, 1939 in Perrysville to parents Ernest and Neva (Poulson) Carr. He was graduated from Perrysville High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland College.
On December 22, 1961 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Wellington. He began his 30 year teaching career in Butler Schools but spent the majority in Mansfield City Schools. He taught math and honors math at Malabar High School.
Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening. He saved every spare moment to spend with his family and cherished their time together; even vacations were used to visit relatives. Jack proudly supported World Mission, following His instruction: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
He was a member of Cook Road Baptist Church where he was Choir Director for many years. He was also a member of the Mansfield Board of Realtors and worked as a realtor for Whatman Realty.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marilyn Carr of Mansfield; their children Stephen (Jamie) Carr of North Dakota, Douglas Carr (Kristine Palmer) of Naples, FL, and Ellen Carr of Mansfield; grandchildren Sara Gardner, Megan Carr, Jason Carr, Carlin Palmer, and Jakob Palmer; great-grandchild Natalie Carr; a sister Janet Hager of Mansfield; special niece Gwen (Dave) Landoll and their children Sirena, Uriah, and Aaron, as well as the Hager, Wellington, and Rand families; and numerous extended family.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 at Snyder Funeral Home, 2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield 44904 where a funeral service honoring Jack’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Jack Hackworth will officiate and burial will follow in Greenlawn Union Cemetery, Perrysville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack’s memory are requested to, Cook Road Baptist Church World Missions, and may be made at the funeral home.
