Jack E. Worthington, age 87, of Howard, Ohio (Apple Valley Community) passed away on Friday afternoon, February 6, 2009 at the Regency Hospital in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his caring family.

Jack was born on April 26, 1921 in Massillon, Ohio, son of the late Harry and Lilly (Orris) Worthington.

Jack retired from the Evening Independent Newspaper in Massillon with 42 years of faithful service as a Photojournalist. Jack was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army serving in W.W.II. He loved to fish in Canada and enjoyed his house on Apple Valley Lake. Jack also enjoyed golfing and watching all sports, but especially football.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Johnson) Worthington; a son, Jack (Janet) Worthington Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls; a daughter, Carol (Robert) Worthington-Murphy of Denver, Colorado; step-sons, Randal Sherrets of Howard, Bruce (Donna) Sherrets of Athens, and Mark Sherrets of Massillon; granddaughters, Jessica Nicholson and Elizabeth Foster; grandson, Geoffrey Murphy; step grandson, Matthew Sherrets; 2 great granddaughters and 5 great grandsons; and his faithful canine companion, Eli.

In addition to his parents, a brother, William Worthington, preceded Jack in death.

In following with Jack’s wish, he will be cremated. There will not be any services at this time.
