Imogene (Johnson) Young, age 74, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday November 23, 2003 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. She was born on October 5, 1929 in Widen, West Virginia to the late Ezekiel and Ethel (Hughes) Johnson. Mrs. Young retired after 25 years of employment as a nurse’s aid with Northside Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in West Virginia and was also a member of the Eastern Star #141, Myrtle Rebekah #51 and Amaranth in North Carolina.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Rhonda) Young of Bellville, a daughter, Ethel (Edmund) “Johnnie” Brown of Amity, five grandchildren, Heidi (Chris) Cline, Amanda (Chip) Zolman, Christina Booth, David Booth, Cheryl Booth, great grandchildren, Clay Zolman and Alyssa Zolman, two brothers, Ezekiel Ray (Louise) Johnson of Mount Vernon, Lawrence Johnson of Virginia, two sisters, Kathleen (Frank) Gill of Heaters, West Virginia, Corene (Fred) Waller of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gene R. Young (1987), a daughter, Anna Jean Young and two brothers, Charles Johnson and Waitman Johnson.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 PM. Rev. Glenda Holmes will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
