Howard L. Augenstine, 80, of Waldo passed away Monday afternoon, September 4, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born October 2, 1936 in Marion, Ohio to the late Howard and Helen (Leonard) Augenstine and later served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Howard was an iron worker and retired from Local #172 in Columbus after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Waldo American Legion #605 and the Iron Workers Retiree Club #172. He was an excellent cook and he enjoyed gardening and reading. Alongside his wife, Howard also enjoyed delivering meals for Source Point for over 10 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of almost 59 years, Annette (Houfek); daughter, Katrina Roberts of Waldo; grandchildren, Anthony Vaughn, Josh Roberts and Hannah (Colton) Roberts; great grandchildren, Sophie and Weston; sister, Helen Louise Knauber of Cardington; sister-in-law, Christina Augenstine of Marion; special family friend, Keith Latto of Delaware; nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by two daughters Mary Augenstine and Lizbeth Ann Wine, his son-in-law Doug Roberts and two brothers Harry “Johnny” and Harold Augenstine.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
