Helen M. Yarman LPN, age 86, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Fredericktown, died Sunday May 20, 2007 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. Helen was born February 18, 1921 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Frederick L. Umbaugh Sr. and Bertha Mae (Smith) Umbaugh and had spent most of her lifetime in the Knox County area. She had been employed as an LPN for more than 37 years at the former Mercy Hospital and Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Helen helped establish the Licensed Practical Nurses training classes at the Knox County Career Center in Mount Vernon.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, the Ohio State Board of Nursing, Division 33 LPN Schools in Mansfield and the Mount Vernon Lions Club.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Bettie Kay and Richard Miller of Fredericktown; her son and daughter-in-law Roger L. and Kathy Yarman of Gambier; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sisters and brother-in-law Betty Morrison of Granville and Patricia and Marvin McQuigg of Fredericktown; her brother and sisters-in-law James and Jean Umbaugh of Granville and Erma Umbaugh of Howard. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dale D. Yarman, her sister Sue Umbaugh and two brothers Frederick L. Umbaugh Jr. and John Umbaugh.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be Thursday at 11 AM at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown with Rev. Mary Miller officiating.
