BELLVILLE: Harvey J. Nichols, 89, of Dickerson Avenue, Bellville, died Saturday afternoon September 4, 2004 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following short illness.
He was born February 1, 1915 in Knox County to Homer and Nellie (Brokaw) Nichols, and spent most of his life in the Bellville and Butler areas.
Harvey had worked 34 years, mostly in the tread room and tube room, with the former Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of New Life Church of Christ in Bellville, as well as the Loyal Men Sunday school class of the church. He had formerly served the congregation as a Sunday school teacher and as the church building custodian.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Esther and Robert Wilcox of Mansfield; a daughter Carol Cogar of Bellville; three grandchildren Timothy Wilcox of Mansfield, and his children Matthew, Brittany, and Cody; Angela Cogar of Bellville, and her son Jory; Chad Cogar of Columbus, and his children Raven, Sage and Cohen; two sisters Wanda Hollar, and Mary Finkey both of Mansfield; a special niece Sondra Koser of Bellville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Morgan Nichols on August 10, 1998; his son Gerald Nichols in 1992; a daughter-in-law Judy Nichols; two brothers Carl and Chester Nichols and a sister Pearl Laribee Niman.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 7, 2004 from 6 to 8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Jefferson Township-Bellville Rescue Squad may be made at the funeral home.
