Harold J. Augenstine, age 69 of Delaware, passed away Monday afternoon at his residence. He was born April 22, 1939 in Marion to Howard and Helen (Leonard) Augenstine. He was a lifetime Delaware resident and was a letter carrier for the Delaware Post Office and had been employed at the Meijers Store. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and rose to the rank of Master Sargent. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, life member of the Air Force Sargents Assoc., VFW Post #3297, Amvets Post #102, Delaware County Veterans Assoc., where he was proud to serve on numerous burial details, and retired member of the United Food Commercial Workers in association with the Meijers Store. He is survived by his wife Xoan (Le), step-sons Dung Le of Florida and Hung Le of Waldo, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, a brother Howard of Norton, Ohio, and a sister Helen Knauber of Cardington. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Pleasant Township Cemetery near Marion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
