Harold E. Amsbaugh

MANSFIELD: Harold E. Amsbaugh passed away July 29, 2012 after a long and valiant struggle against the losses caused by Lewy Body Dementia.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Marie Amsbaugh and nephew Jeff Armstrong.
Harold leaves behind his wife Lucy Smith Amsbaugh, children Robert (Carol) Amsbaugh, Lynn (Steve) Reed, Mike (Jamie) Amsbaugh, and Nick Amsbaugh; grandchildren Jessica (Sean) McNary, Stephanie (Jason) Beverly, Samantha Reed, Alexis, Ford, Correll, Tucker Amsbaugh, and Aarilyn Neal; sister Judy Armstrong, sister-in-law Sally (Rod) Deihl, three nephews, five nieces, and exceptional friends Joanne and Jeff Dawson.
Harold graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and attended The College of Wooster, The Ohio State University, and Ashland University. He retired from North Central State College after 29 enjoyable years of teaching. Harold was an Honorary Deacon of the First Congregational Church. He belongs to the Hermits Club, a SCORE volunteer, and member of the First Congregational Church’s men’s breakfast group.
Harold’s family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care of Dr. A. Chawla, the entire staff at Liberty (formerly Woodlawn) Health Care Center, and Hospice of North Central Ohio. The love and support of our friends has meant so much over the years. The private caregivers Harold had were a special blessing.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held today, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11 am at First Congregational Church, officiated by The Rev. David Root. Calling hours will follow the service in the church parlor. Harold requested that his body be donated to the OSU Department of Anatomy.
