Harold Atkinson

HAROLD C. ATKINSON, AGE 85, OF MARTINSBURG, DIED AUGUST 20, 2001, AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM OF THE KNOX COMMUNITY HOSPITAL. HE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 25, 1915, IN MOUNT VERNON, THE SON OF KINZEY A. AND ALVIRA (JAMES) ATKINSON AND HAD BEEN A KNOX COUNTY RESIDENT FOR MOST OF HIS LIFE. HE WAS A WW II VETERAN HAVING SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER WITH THE 84th INFANTRY DIVISION. HE WAS RETIRED FROM THE COOPER BESSEMER CORP.

HE IS SURVIVED BY SIX SONS RICHARD ATKINSON OF HEATH, OHIO, RONALD (ALICE) ATKINSON OF CHARDON, OHIO, RANDALL (MARGARET) ATKINSON OF UTICA, OHIO, RUSSELL (CINDY) ATKINSON OF MARTINSBURG, OHIO, ROBERT (PATRICIA) ATKINSON OF PERRYSVILLE, OHIO AND RODNEY ATKINSON OF COSHOCTON; 11 GRANDCHILDREN AND 5 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, HIS WIFE AGNES IN JANUARY OF 1995, AN INFANT SON CARMEN, 2 SISTERS AND 4 BROTHERS.

FRIENDS MAY CALL WEDNESDAY FROM 6 PM UNTIL 8 PM AT THE DOWDS-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE FUINERAL HOME THURSDAY AT 11 AM. BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS OBSERVED BY THE KNOX COUNTY JOINT VETERANS COUNCIL WILL FOLLOW IN THE MARTINSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY.
