H. Dennis “Denny” Haldeman

H. Dennis “Denny” Haldeman, age 72, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday August 31, 2021 at the Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus. He was born October 21, 1948 in Mount Vernon to Clarence and Nedria E. (Sowards) Haldeman. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1966 and entered into the United States Army in November of 1966.

Denny had managed Mount Vernon Bottled Gas and Millstone Home Appliance Center in Mount Vernon for many years. He was active with the Mount Vernon Baseball Association serving as a coach in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge, VFW Post 4027, Disabled American Veterans and the Valley Billiards League. Denny was a veteran of Vietnam and suffered service-connected injuries and the effects of agent orange since his discharge in 1968.

Denny will be missed by his family, wife of 52 years Lynette Haldeman; his son and daughter-in-law Eric and Kerry Haldeman; 2 grandchildren Victoria Anderson, and Tyler Haldeman; 2 great grandchildren Waylon Haldeman and Greyson Anderson; his sister and brother-in-law Jan (Beryl) Lybarger; and his brothers Clarence “Ed”  Haldeman Jr. and Vinton Lewis Haldeman and his Valley Billiards Family. Denny was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson Sawyer Kenny Anderson, his best friend Dann Beaver, and canine companion Kasey.

Friends may call Tuesday September 7, 2021 from 5PM to 7PM at the Snyder Funeral Home- Lasater Chapel 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Wednesday at 2PM with Celebrant Dave Roberts officiating. Burial with military honors by the U S Army and the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the Chalmers P. Wylie Veteran Hospital in Columbus.
