Gerald A. Ault

December 22, 1940 ‒ November 29, 2016

Galion, Ohio

Gerald A. Ault, age 75, of Galion, passed away Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on December 22, 1940, in Fredericktown, OH, to the late Kensel A. and Ethel L. (Albert) Ault. Gerald graduated from Johnsville High School in the class of 1960.

Gerald worked over 20 years at Galion AMCO. While at AMCO, he started out as a general laborer and worked his way up to Vice President of Manufacturing.

With a love of working with his hands, Gerald turned his hobby of woodworking into a business. Over the years he created many pieces of fine furniture and sets of kitchen cabinets for family, friends, and clients.

When Gerald wasn’t in his wood shop, he could be found outdoors enjoying nature. His love of hunting and fishing ran deep in his blood. For the past 50 years, Gerald ventured to the great wilderness of Canada where he was able to escape from the hustle here in Ohio.

Gerald will be dearly missed by his children: Scott (Jeannine) Ault of Columbus, Candace (Dwayne) Wilson of Cardington, and Matthew (Amanda) Patrlja of Korea; grandchildren: Kara, Macy, Lexia, Laynee, and Sydnie; significant other, Susan Cathers; brothers: Paul (Kim) Ault of Mount Gilead, Dale (Susan) Ault of Galion, and Steve (Kathie) Ault of Haysville; and sisters: Beverly Wansor of Mount Gilead and Vickie (Ed) West of Galion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Ginger Arlene Ault; and brother, William Ault.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Handlebar Ranch. 6695 Co Rd 76, Mt Gilead, OH 43338.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1198 Kenny Centre Mall, Columbus, OH 43220.
