George R. Cleland

George R. Cleland, age 78 of Ashley passed away suddenly, Monday, June 6, 2016 in the emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 23, 1938 in Racine, Ohio to the late Walter and Mae (Howell) Cleland. A proud US Army Veteran, he moved to the Ashley area in 1969. George worked at J.G. Castings, Sunray Stove, and Big Lots.
Always willing to speak his mind, George was firm in his ways and loved animals.
He is survived by his daughter Vickie (Randy) Cromer of Brodhead, KY, brothers David, Earl, and Carroll Cleland, sister-in-law Patricia Shilt of Ashley, brothers-in-law Harold and John Hysell of Westfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
George was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Lydia (Hysell) in 2010 and sister Mary Cleland.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Westfield Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the honor guard of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1095. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.
